Free quote comparison worksheet

Compare renters insurance quotes side by side

Put the price beside the protection. Organize two or three quotes, identify missing details, and compare the terms before you decide.

Compare the cost and the coverage

Use written quotes for the same address, people, start date, and 12-month period. Start with your belongings inventory and your apartment's insurance requirements. This worksheet organizes figures you supply. It does not retrieve quotes, verify a provider, rank insurers, or confirm that a policy meets your lease.

For every cost field, use numbers without dollar signs or commas and no more than two decimal places. Blank coverage fields remain unknown, rather than becoming zero. Enter a confirmed zero for fees when there are none. Cost fields allow up to $1,000,000 and coverage fields up to $10,000,000.

Read the endorsements and replacement requirements, not just the quote heading.

Unequal first payments, deposits, or a policy term shorter than 12 months do not fit the equal-payment option. Ask for the total 12-month premium and use the first option. Do not add fees twice. A calculated annual total is an arithmetic comparison of your inputs, not a price commitment.

Read the differences before you decide

Matching prices do not establish matching coverage. Compare covered causes of loss, exclusions, endorsements, special limits for belongings, and who is insured. Ask what documentation and replacement steps apply after a loss. The replacement cost and actual cash value guide explains a distinction that can materially change a settlement.

A lower premium can come with a higher deductible or different limits. Use the deductible calculator to explore that tradeoff. The renters insurance cost guide explains why a headline monthly price is only part of a comparison.

Additional living expenses generally address increased living costs after a covered loss, subject to policy terms. A matching dollar limit may still come with different time limits or conditions. Read the temporary housing guide and confirm the wording with the provider.

No account or email is needed. This tool does not upload, save, or submit your entries. Leaving or refreshing the page clears them. Downloads and printed copies contain the labels and notes you enter, so keep personal information out of the worksheet. A download saves a file on your own device.

Before choosing between offers, check the actual insurer named in each quote using official records. Comparing policy terms and researching a company answer different questions.
